Weight and metabolic health can be influenced by medical, nutritional, psychological and lifestyle factors. Meridian takes these factors into account before recommending a care plan.
You may wish to discuss this pathway if you:

What your care may include.
Physician consultation
An initial consultation to consider your medical history, current health, existing care and personal goals. Your clinician will discuss relevant options, their potential benefits and limitations, and appropriate next steps.
Baseline investigations
Health checks or investigations may be recommended when clinically relevant. The type and timing of any investigations will depend on your individual assessment.
Dietitian support
You may choose to see a Meridian dietitian for individual nutrition advice, including nutritional adequacy, eating patterns and practical changes that can be maintained over time.
Supporting muscle health
Where appropriate, advice may include protein intake, physical activity and resistance exercise, taking into account your health, needs and physical abilities.
Additional support
Care can be coordinated with other Meridian practitioners when relevant, including dietitians and psychologists.
Access to surgical review
If metabolic bariatric surgery is being considered, review with a Meridian bariatric surgeon can be coordinated. Surgery requires a separate clinical assessment and is not assumed to be the appropriate option for every person.
From initial enquiry to coordinated follow-up.
Initial enquiry
Your enquiry is reviewed and directed to an appropriate clinician based on the information you provide. We aim to contact you within one working day.
Initial consultation
Your clinician considers the medical and non-medical factors relevant to your weight and metabolic health. This includes your health history, current medicines, existing care and what you hope to achieve.
Relevant care options, limitations and risks are discussed before you and your clinician agree on the next steps.
Care plan and follow-up
If you decide to proceed, your care plan is developed with you and reviewed over time. Depending on your needs, it may include nutrition support, physical activity, psychological support, investigations, monitoring or referral to another clinician.
